In line with the strategy, we’re looking for a Senior Commercial Finance Analyst – Merchandise to join the Commercial Finance and Strategy team. This role will enable commercial decision making in the context of Merchandise category initiatives. This will be achieved through proactively partnering with the Merchandise teams and providing commercial insights and recommendations to support the Merchandise growth strategies.

What YOUR DAY LOOKS LIKE

  • Proactively partner with the Merchandise category teams to provide data-led commercial analysis and recommendations to drive decision making at a category and department level
  • Support the Merchandise buyers and planners by providing financial analysis to drive favourable Vendor Trading Terms (VTT) negotiations with key vendors to deliver favourable EBIT and working capital benefits
  • Ownership of the month end, forecasting and budgeting process, including preparation and presentation of results and commentary at a level appropriate for executive-level consumption
  • Preparation and development of financial models to support the category Merchandise Strategy 
  • Lead the business case modelling for key Merchandise initiatives, including the implementation and presentation of PIRs to measure progress and success of initiatives
  • Identify areas for process improvement or innovative financial approaches that can enhance decision-making for Merchandise categories. Present recommendations and execute approved changes.
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis, including collaborating with the wider Commercial Finance and Strategy team

 

What YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE

  • Tertiary Qualification in Accounting/Business, with CA/CPA qualification.
  • Previous experience in large scale Retail/FMCG or similar is highly desirable.
  • Passion for retail and problem-solving, with a keen interest in driving business transformation through financial analysis.
  • Strong financial modelling skills with the ability to handle complex, multi-variable scenarios.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in relation to large-scale business initiatives.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple competing projects with varying timelines.
  • Strategic thinking capability, with the ability to anticipate business needs and present options for review.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across various business units and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
