Join a newly created Technology function and lead the customer platform strategy to inspire customer experiences like no other for David Jones.

The Role

In its 185th year, David Jones is undertaking a dynamic organisational wide transformation as part of its new Australian ownership structure. To deliver our Vision 2025+ strategy, David Jones is creating a newly reshaped Technology function to transform how we create omnichannel environments that inspire like no other.

Reporting to the Head of Technology, the Platform Manager will lead a technical team across our customer marketing platforms, providing people and technical leadership to enable technology delivery and platform operations. You will lead planning, design and change of technology change initiatives, spanning across technical requirements and solution design, liaising with the wider Technology team and cross functional teams to deliver on their requirements. Importantly, you will collaborate intimately with external partners and enable agile teams to achieve the continuous delivery of technology solutions.

This role will suit a strategic, collaborative and commercially astute engineering leader who is inspired to deliver significant transformation for Australia’s most iconic luxury retail destination.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Defining and scoping initiatives, in partnership with wider Technology and cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes
  • Deep understanding of business and technology requirements related to platform systems
  • Building and owning key vendor relationships within the platform domain
  • Collaborate across the function to use suitable best practices in delivery and development to execute the ongoing Technology strategy
  • Guide vendor partners to deliver new features and strategic initiatives aligned to commercial objectives
  • Ensure platform health and reliability, including maintenance and support to meet operational SLA
  • As a leader coach and inspire teams to unlock the possibilities outstanding technology solutions can provide
  • Accountable for timely roadmap delivery of initiatives overseeing quality, release management, reliability and performance.
  • Nurturing the Domain (people/process/technology) as a capability

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • A curious, customer obsessed and solution orientated mindset is essential
  • Tertiary qualified in Computer Science or other IT-related area
  • Extensive knowledge of Banking and payments platforms (incl POS) and exposure to Retail store operations and systems is ideal.
  • Experience managing commercial relationships with external vendor partners
  • Effective project and leadership skills within a matrix management environment
  • Adaptable communication skills to influence all levels within an organisation
  • Proven experience managing projects through all phases of project lifecycle
  • Experience within the Retail industry or with Banking and Payments platforms highly regarded
