The role

Reporting to our CPO, the Head of People & Culture Partnering will be a vital component in delivering the people and transformation agenda across David Jones. This critical role will partner and coach our executive leaders alongside their direct reports, acting as a key change agent in the delivery of our current David Jones 2025+ and upcoming 2030 strategy. 

Leading a national high performing team of People Business Partners , you will inspire performance and create thriving environments with an outcome focused mandate. This dynamic role includes leading significant org redesign work as well as continuing to develop a talent roadmap that inspires the next wave of leaders for an iconic business embarking on significant transformation.

Based in Melbourne with a hybrid mix of time in the office and from home, this role will suit an experienced, highly talented, driven and commercially astute HR professional looking to make a real impact.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner closely with our leadership teams to design and execute our people strategy
  • Lead conversations around talent management, succession planning and team engagement
  • Lead and contribute to key strategic projects across the whole David Jones business
  • Facilitate and lead discussion relating to organisational design and future capabilities
  • Initiate change recommendations to support the people and overarching business strategy
  • Contribute to the development of the enterprise wide people & culture strategy

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Experience leading national Business Partnering teams
  • Demonstrable experience of leading people-oriented change to drive business transformation
  • Proven ability to influence decision making outside of direct line of control, involving internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage through complexity and ambiguity
  • Ability to successfully consult and manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously
  • Business & Commercial Acumen – Understand the Business Strategy, Operating Model and Financial expectations 
  • Has previously operated at executive level and has interacted with senior management
