The Role

As the Merchandise Services Manager will be responsible to build and establish the Merchandise Services function.

Leading a team of Stockflow Leads and Coordinators responsible for replenishment, allocation, promotion & markdown and demand forecasts, you will establish a roadmap and strategy that delivers consistent improvements in merchandise administration and Stockflow processes and drive continuous improvement to deliver business KPIs.

Effectively Partner with the merchandise Buying & Planning function to drive ongoing system and technology enhancements is a key part of the role as you working collaboratively with the merchandise Buying and Planning function to deliver outcomes.

Based at our Support Centre in Docklands, with a hybrid mix of time at the office and working from home each week, the Merchandise Services Manager is responsible for leading geographically dispersed team of Stockflow lead, Stockflow Coordinators and Merchandise Administrators to provide allocation, replenishment, demand forecast and administrative support to the Buying and Planning merchandise function.

This role will suit someone who has strong leadership experience across geographically dispersed teams, who is a strong change agent and has deep expertise in inventory management and merchandising.

What Does The Role Involve

  • Build and establish the Merchandise Services function including onboarding of team, defining team ways of working and embedding efficient and standardised processes and tasks aligned to agreed SLAs.
  • Lead and provide direction to Stockflow team responsible for replenishment, allocation, demand forecasting and merchandise administration including PIM
  • Partner with and act as key liaison with Supply Chain and Store operations to deliver against strategic and tactical projects.
  • Partner with Merchandise Buying/Planning team to deliver against targets of allocation requirement, ASR in-stock and administrative SLAs
  • Lead team to create and regulate the flow of demand forecasts to enable the merchandise planning team with merchandise product availability for top 100 SKUs
  • Create strategic roadmap that delivers administration and Stockflow processes improvements and drive ongoing system and technology enhancements
  • Design and establish the strategic directive, principles and discipline of inbound stockflow ensuring a consistent and standardised approach to stockflow across all departments, influencing the uptake across all teams.
  • Play a key role in driving the product flow enablement of value chain program of works in conjunction with Merchandise Buying/Planning team
  • Partner with all Merchandise Leadership teams to establish and foster an open, inclusive and connected environment that embeds the merchandise services team as an extension of the merchandise function aligned with our cultural foundations

What Are We Looking For?

  • Strong Merchant experience, including experience in supply chain management and in a planning position
  • Experience in complex department/retail business or similar environment
  • Strong understanding of the market, customer and emerging trends
  • Strong understanding of Stockflow and demand planning principles
  • Strong retail acumen and analytical skills
  • Strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills
  • Deep customer centric thinking and approach
  • Strong commercial acumen, data-driven insights and decision making and total enterprise view
  • Experienced and effective partnership skills to deliver business, customer and people outcomes and working efficiently cross-functional in a commercial, merchandise environment
  • Strong leadership experience leading large geographically dispersed teams
  • Proven experience in process improvement and successful change management
  • Experience in the ASR system (Retail Demand Forecasting) or like systems
