The David Jones Real Estate Development team is responsible for ensuring our store portfolio remains contemporary with a key focus on new store openings, our refurbishment program and brand installations. The team focuses on finding the right balance between design and environmental impact to ensure that everything we do sets the benchmark for excellence.

We currently have a unique opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our Real Estate Development team and support on our Elizabeth Street Store Redevelopment. Reporting through to our Head of Construction, this role will play a key role in one of David Jones’ most significant projects and be integral in the delivery of an exceptional, world class shopping destination for our customers.

Please note, this role is a 12 month contract opportunity.

In this role you will;

  • Manage the design and construction process to time and budget requirements
  • Coordinate project resources, team members and vendors
  • Coordinate and manage appointed external Construction Management team
  • Coordinate and review services, trade and joinery package tenders
  • Review construction programmes and assess/highlight potential risks
  • Have an understanding of base build, architectural, co-ordinated services and lease plan drawings
  • Produce and/or contribute to detailed project proposals that allow an informed project approval decision to be made

To be a part of a team that will play an integral role in shaping the look and feel of our stores now and in the future, you will;

  • Possess demonstrated experience within construction Project Management, and structured project delivery, preferably in a Retail, Hospitality or FMCG environment
  • Have a proven track record of successful project delivery
  • Lead the end to end construction process within time, cost and quality requirements
  • Ensure all governance and best practice is followed to mitigate business risk exposure
  • Ensure all industry legislation and company best practice is complied with at all times
  • Have the ability to work alongside a range of key senior stakeholders in order to achieve business outcomes
  • Have the ability to meet deadlines and work within a fast paced environment whilst balancing competing interest’s
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to influence stakeholders internally and externally
